HIMSS 2006 Day 1

The HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society) 2006 Conference kicked off in San Diego with a reception last night. I flew out from Jacksonville, FL, yesterday morning with my boss and a coworker. We had a layover in Dallas, where we grabbed to-go barbecue and arrived at our connecting flight as it was boarding, so we made onto the plane just fine. My boss’s luggage, including golf clubs, made it on the plane just fine. My coworkers luggage made it on the plane just fine. My luggage stayed in Dallas.
We checked in to the hotel, and everyone else went to the reception. I looked down at my running shoes, jeans, and sweatshirt, and opted not to attend. My boss suggested going to a clothing store, but I really didn’t feel like dropping $150+ on shoes, socks, pants, belt, and shirt, so I walked around downtown, watched the Pro Bowl, ordered a Works pizza (pepperoni, black olives, mushrooms, onions, sausage) from Cefalu’s Pizza, and fell asleep about 7:00 (10:00 EST). My phone rang about 8:00 to tell me my luggage had arrived. So, I’m all good to go now.
I’ve never been to HIMSS before, but I understand it to be about the intersection of healthcare and technology. This should be interesting.
